BANQ Ice Dogs take on the Canberra Knights in Canberra

Posted on 07 May 2010 by admin

The Dogs are on the hunt for their first win of the season and looking for redemption after Canberra’s season series win last year.  “The team has addressed last weekends weak points in practice this week and now we are just really looking forward to playing tomorrow”  says import defenceman Chad Elliot.  The Penalty box definitely being one of them.

“I think we played better disciplined in Adelaide with only one penalty, so I guess we want to continue that approach this weekend and avoid penalties that we have control over” adds Scottie Herbert.

You can expect a physical contest though in front of a passionate and usually sold out Canberra crowd.

Both teams have injected some fresh new import talent with some familiar and reliable faces in the line up.  BANQ Ice Dogs as many know have fresh faces in Derek Campbell, Andrew DeCristoforo and Chad Elliot with Matt Monaghan returning from last season.  Canberra have returning players in Matti Luoma from Finland and goaltender Ryan Lowe from the States with a few new additions Garrett Delaquis and Sean Scarbrough.

Sunday the Ice Dogs then make their way up to Newcastle to take on the Northstars who are on the hop after defeating the Penrith Bears in a shootout last weekend.

ok for starters the bears won the game 7-6 the puck went over the line but the keeper hit it out after it crossed the line. the refs were behind in the play and in bad position and apparently didnt see it(blind and def). alltho they spoke to each other for a little while and came to the dacision that they were not going to give a goal. the keeper knew it was a goal but when your leaking like a siv you wont admit you let another one in would ya. look out canberra and newcastle we are comin!!!

i would have to say that was the worst rink i have been to in a long time.
i ice was shit house, i think it would be hard to swim in ice skates and the refereeing was pretty poor. supporters were quick to give it but when it come to push and shove they were quick to hide behind there friends.
being out numbered about 20 – 4 made things interesting but i spose when they cant handle their voda cruisers and then come down behind the net to give players shit and start on supporters we aint backing down.
head up boys lets focus on the game tonight and take home a result from newcastle.
i would have to say that hole in the side of the net should never of allowed to be there last week a bloke got hit in chest this week a chic in the head what do you think it will take before it gets fixed a kid to get injured or what.
and some advise maybe they can get a shed for your zamboni because i think its a little dangerous to park it on the federal highway it might get booked.

    Hi King Family,

The weekend’s scores are updated by sunday night and game reviews are usually in shortly after the game or the next day.

If you start at http://www.icedogs.com.au, you can’t miss it ;)

what do you mean by this?

  8. DanSON14 Says:

if you hit someone hard enough into the boards head first they will soon taste it.

  9. hardman Says:

thats just stupid…. thats how teams lose games.

  10. JOHNNO22 Says:

    absolutely

  11. DanSON14 Says:

really, i thought a teams a lose game cause the other team has more points then them.
being a contact sport it is allowed but when you do it late then you get sent to the bin and are out numbered.

  12. JOHNNO22 Says:

    so whats your point flapjack?

  13. DanSON14 Says:

there are right times and wrong times to check people if you play in the rules of the game then its fine but if not you diserve to be in the box.
if you don’t like contact might consider netball.
    contact stand beside.
johnno22 feel sorry can’t play contact sport with so much rage
not my fault you dislicated your shoe lace.
