Todd Stephenson scores on breakaway
The BANQ Sydney Ice Dogs may have finished with the wooden spoon but you couldn’t tell that from their 10-2 performance over the Canberra Knights in their final home game of the season. “We wanted to get a win for our loyal supporters who have grown in number this season” said Captain Anthony Wilson.
Pride was definitely on the line as the game featured plenty of action; goals, hits and the occassional tussle. A nice way to finish a tough season but the playing group is not naive “it was great to finish on a high, but we still know we have a lot of work to do this offseason” tells American Import Matt Monaghan who had a natural hat-trick and a few assists to boot.
The Ice Dogs started strong and never looked back as Andrew White got the puck rolling with a penalty shot goal. Andrew White was not the only defenceman running hot with two goals Anthony Wilson also buried two quick slapshots from blueline and Chad Elliot also had a going away present to start the second period.
Stay tuned over the next couple of weeks as we pay thanks to certain people and have some special Ice Dogs TV footage to be released as well. We will also keep the site maintained over the off-season with the latest news so be sure to check back in every once and a while.

Final Showdown vs the Canberra Knights
This Saturday night August 21st the Canberra Knights come to town for the final Home Game (and Game for that matter) of the 2010 season. The last time these two matched up the BANQ Sydney Ice Dogs came back from 6-3 to win 8-7.
The Ice Dogs will have Import Matt Monaghan back in the line up and Jimmy Herbert should be back closer to 100% as he recovers from his shoulder injury from 2-3 weeks back. “It will be good to get Monaghan back in the line up” says forward Scottie Herbert.
Those in need of a hockey fix….last call before the off-season and summer approaches. The Knights have two wins in Canberra and the Ice Dogs will be looking to square the ledger and finish on a high note for next year.
The Ice Dogs would also like to invite you to the Liverpool Catholic Club after the game for an informal get together celebrating this Ice Dogs Community that is growing in numbers and going from strength to strength. The Game is proudly brought to you by BANQ Accountants who have donated some Mens Cologne and Womens Perfume to be raffled off.
The BANQ Sydney Ice Dogs would like to thank all our supporters once again for their dedication, commitment and support this year and hopefully see you Saturday night for the last home game of the year.

BANQ Ice Dogs and Adrenaline always a thriller
Well the stats speak for themselves that this will be a thriller of a game with every game between these two teams going down to the wire – two of them into a shootout. The BANQ Sydney Ice Dogs however are hungry for the win this as they have failed to beat the defending AIHL champions this year despite coming so close everytime.
After the last two losses in Penrith the Ice Dogs need to refocus and put on a show for their growing passionate supporter base who yell their lungs out with or without amplifying devices every weekend. The Stats will hopefully help out as the Ice Dogs have won their last two home games in front of their passionate crowd.
Saturday Nights game is also very special as it is the inaugrial Westbus Pups Club Gala Day event which focuses on the youth and future of our beloved sport. The Day kicks off at 3pm with Street Hockey and other activities outside the LCC Sports Complex and prizes to be won.
So wear something warm, bring your friends this Saturday August 7th from 3pm for some pre-game festivities with the game starting at 5pm.

Ice Dogs Team behind the team photo
An 8-2 win was sure to bring smiles to many faces, but so did the fact the players and supporters had to say cheese for the camera. In what will surely be an annual event the BANQ Sydney Ice Dogs posed for their team photo with their loyal supporters in the background to place emphasis on “whole” team which is turning into a community.
The Photo took place after the Ice Dogs defeated the Penrith Bears 8-2 at their home venue the LCC Sports Complex in Liverpool. “Being the first time we have done this it was a great success” says Mitch Collins, Ice Dogs Game Day Promotions Manager. “We want to do it again next year and give a heads up further in advance so we can make it even bigger”
The players stuck around after and got some photo’s individually with the kids, which were later posted on the Facebook Fan Page which is also growing in popularity. “We have a special community here that is only going to get bigger” explains Ice Dogs TV manager Andrew Burgess.
Thanks to Nancy for taking the photo!

Brenton Tripp with some Pups Club Norwest players
The BANQ Sydney Ice Dogs want to celebrate the future of our sport with the Westbus Pups Club Gala Day which kicks off at 3pm before the Dogs take on the Adelaide Adrenaline at 5pm this Saturday night. There will be street hockey and other games out the front of the LCC Sports Complex from 3pm. The Pups Club winner of the EA Sports NHL 2010 video game on XBOX 360 will also be announced plus lots of other prizes for the kids to win just for showing up to the game.
“We are already starting to see the league and sport start to grow and hopefully when the kids get to this level they are playing in front of thousands of supporters” says Ice Dogs player Scott Stephenson. “However to get there the most important part of the process is keeping them in the sport, ensuring they are enjoying themselves and give them a level they can aspire to”.
The Ice Dogs will be holding two mini exhibition games in the intermissions of the Ice Dogs vs. Adrenaline game between some of the Atoms teams who will get a chance to play in front on an AIHL crowd. “We are hoping to turn this into an annual event and build on the experience for the kids each year” finishes Stephenson.
So bring the kids early for some fun before watching the Sydney Ice Dogs take on the defending AIHL champions the Adelaide Adrenaline this Saturday August 7th at the LCC Sports Complex, Liverpool. Pups Club kids make sure you bring your passes for free entry into the game.
